You make a good point about the news being about connections. Once upon a time, "the news" created a sense of community because everyone in your community consumed the same news. When I was growing up, we had only four main news sources: The Evening Telegram, Here and Now, the NTV Evening News and the regional A.M. station (CHCM out of Marystown). Now the news is fragmented and individualized, and those connections are harder to make. This is a topic that the industry has to think deeply about in the 21st century.
